Hawks maintain spotless record by rallying to upend rival Lancers in girls flag football Midway through the fourth quarter on Monday, all seven of Urbana’s offensive players glanced at the scoreboard as they trotted onto the turf. For a program that hasn’t lost a regular-season game in the four years that girls flag football has been a varsity sport in Frederick County, it showed something foreign. The Hawks trailed by two scores to Linganore and were backed up near their own end zone. If they were to keep their spotless record intact, they would have to mount a comeback against the arch-rival Lancers, the defending Class 2A/1A state champions, on the road. So, Urbana got to work. Lancers clear 'mental hurdle' by finally beating Bears in girls soccer Mike Heller had never known the feeling. Neither had any of his players. Since taking over as coach of the Linganore High girls soccer team in 2022, Heller’s teams had never beaten Oakdale. The Lancers were typically very competitive against the Bears. They even pushed them to overtime in the regular season and met again in the playoffs during Oakdale’s run to the Class 3A state final last season. Oakdale 30 Damascus Game Stats + Cumulative Week 4 Stats + Tabbed Season The win over Damascus raised Oakdale's record to 4-0 and it marks the 7th time Oakdale has begun a season 4-0. Coach Stein's and Oakdale's all time record is now 116-54 (68.23%) and the Bears are now 4-3 All Time vs Damascus, including 2 straight at Damascus. After giving up 86 points in the first two meetings against Damascus, the Bears have surrendered just 31 points in the last 5 meetings. Oakdale's All Time record on the road is now 51-33 (60.7%), 48-21 (69.5%) over the last 69 road games. The Bears gained 380 yards and are now 46-5 when gaining at least 380 yards in a game. Oakdale's defense gave up just 137 yards and are now 40-0 when giving up fewer than 175 yards in a game. The 16 passing yards against was the 8th fewest given up in school history. Dylan Ohm threw for 275 yards Friday night, that tied Evan Austin for the 6th most passing yards in a single game. Joe Pippin has the record with 341 (at Linganore 2021). With 12 career TD passes Ohm passes Alex Mason for 9th on the career list and ties Alex Rodriguez (2024) for 9th most in a single season. Ohm is at 806 yards passing through 4 games. Charlie Alt is at 90 career receptions (3rd All Time) and his 65 yard TD catch Friday night moved him past Bryce DeMaille for second on the all time yards list with 1696 (Bryce 1652). Alt needs 1 more TD catch to become the 3rd Bear with 20 career TD receptions. With his 4 catches for 85 and a TD game Friday night, Joziah Cobb became just the 6th Bear with 1000 career receiving yards (1060). With 14 career TD receptions Cobb past Cameron Dorner for 4th place. Shemiah Hill had 74 yards rushing Friday night and moved by Collin Schlee (1187) for 8th place on the career rushing list with 1192 yards. His rushing TD Friday night gives him 13 in his career, and that ties Andrew Wilson for 9th place. Dylan Ohm now has 113 career points scored which is 12th all time, but his 89 points kicking are now 3rd All Time. Jackson Peterson had 84 and is now 4th. Ohm's Field Goal Friday night was his 6th and he is now 4 behind Justin Ritter who had 10. Charlie Alt is at 126 career points, 3 behind Rory Blanchard (129) who is in 10th place. On the All Time Tackles list, Brody Schmuck is now at 91 where he is now tied with Mason Whitfield for 31st place. Only 28 Bears have reached 100 career tackles. Charlie Alt is at 74 tackles which is good for 42nd place, 1 behind Julian Lynn. Nick Russell is next on the list with 59, Graydon Beaver has 55 and Tristan Dockins is at 51 career tackles. Dockins brings the total number of Bears with at least 50 career tackles to 72. The Maurio Goings-Nick Russell combo of 273 career tackles places them 3rd on the all time brothers list, behind the Hodges Brothers (354 Andrew and Will) and the Carey Brothers (334 Logan and Luke).
