Down by as much as 16 in the fourth quarter, Polytech cut down the Pocomoke lead to as little as two points! But the Warriors survive with a three point victory to begin day 3 at the Governors Challenge.

Pocomoke went into halftime with a 12 point lead, but the Milford Buccaneers forced turnovers and got to the free throw line in the third quarter. Milford took a four point lead into the fourth, and with nine seconds left Pocomoke missed a game-tying three. ultimately losing 75-72.

Following the fall 2023 field hockey season, Pocomoke had 9 players earn all-conference honors, two of which earned player of the year, Dakotah Trader (2023 bayside south offensive player of the year) and Maddie Cornwell (2023 bayside south defensive player of the year). The team was able to earn a spot at the Class 1A State Championship game but fell short to South Carroll 2-1. Pocomoke High School, being the previous two-time defending champions, are looking to get back to the top next season. Lead by Coach Kasey Hickman, the team will be coming back experienced, with half of the all-conference players returning to fight for a different finish. Last season, the team had to handle lots of adversity and injuries, but they prevailed. With a healthy squad, the team is putting in the work to come back strong this fall and make a run through the postseason.
