The atmosphere was set anticipating whether we were going to repeat the same adventure in 2026. 1ST HALF - Started out with high energy and pace on both teams. A big dunk (which I failed to record) set the tone early for the Sabers. However, the Vikings traveled over two hours to play bayside ball. Shifty and quick turnovers, good rebounds let them to enter the half down by one 25-26. 2ND HALF - SEED displayed to fans they are truly a second half team. The third period being their strongest adding 27 points in it. In the fourth they contributed 13 more points. The 4th for the Vikings was their largest scoring period. They had 18 points, and were able to end the final with a 10 point deficit. SEED stood tall and claimed their first 1A Boys state title in school history defeating the CSD Vikings, 66-56. Proud of all the players, coaches, parents, teachers, and fans; who participated in making this matchup a success. KEEP WORKING HARD, CONGRATS SEED SABERS!!!!

Tech welcomed Havre de Grace into the "Snake Pit" on Friday night for the second time this week. The Warriors took the first game on Wednesday evening but that would not be the case Friday. Mateo Hiett and Zach Lane set the tone for the Cobras, Hiett with another double double,22 points 14 rebounds, and Lane using his speed and ball handling to attack the rim for 18 points of his own. Tech had timely buckets from Joel Dukes and Jahlil James, along with possession securing rebounds from Ridley and James, made sure the Warriors didn't have the opportunity to make a late game run. Josiah Lawrence dropped 21 with help from a monster rebounder and put back king Laveasa Gamey, they were able to stay within reach, however it would not be enough, as Tech takes the night.
Last night, Wednesday February 3rd Brunswick Boys Varsity Basketball played against Boonsboro Boys Varsity Basketball. These two teams had seen each other already with Boonsboro coming out on top. Brunswick, who is having an up year was looking to add to the win column and get some revenge. The game started slow with both teams trying to find their groove, but Brunswick capitalized on some break away points and Boonsboro didn't. Brunswick started fast in the second thanks to freshman Jayvon Moody hitting two threes to put Brunswick up ten fast. Aaron Birney also hit clutch shots to give Brunswick a 30-17 lead at halftime. The second half was no different. Brunswick had their foot on the gas the whole game. Aaron Birney came out hot in the third making what seemed like every shot and playing fantastic defense. Junior Mark Yongbi finally started playing aggressive in the second half for Brunswick grabbing a ton of rebounds and scoring down low. Nick Martinis a junior guard for Brunswick finished great around the rim leading Brunswick to a win over Boonsboro with the final score being 62-47 Brady Renn a senior guard for Brunswick has played phenomenal all season and last night was no different. He's not a flashy player but is a guy you want on your team. Renn is unselfish, passionate, has a good attitude, and is the best re-bounder in the county, only standing at 5'10. Last night Renn and Yongbi grabbed at least 25 rebounds between each other with Renn having at least 10, which played a vital role in Brunswick's win. But every player contributed with Mark Yongbi having 12 points, Aaron Birney with 14, Andrew Jones with 6, Brady Renn with 6, Nick Martinis with 14, and Jayvon Moody with 10.
Harford Tech 64 C. Milton Wright 75 Tuesday night brought the Cobras to Mustang country and it didn't end well for the snakes. Harford Tech got out early and led the scoring for most of the first period but as the last second dropped, the score was in the Mustang's favor. It wouldn't stay that way as Tech and CMW would hold leads throughout this foul whistled riddled affair. Swapping the lead position with Mustangs several times, but as the final horn sounded, it would be C. Milton Wright with the advantage. The Mustangs were paced by Xavier Holley's 19 and Shawn Lauderdale adding 17 to the total. Harford Tech had 2 players, Joel Dukes with 20 points and Mateo "Taco" Hiett with a 20 pt 10 rebound double-double, as they took the game high, with Zay Roberson reaching double digits with 12 points of his own.
Colin Tucker 18 points 13 rebounds
This score is incorrect. The final was 69-56 with Harford Tech winning. Thank you!!!
Edgewood Rams 56 Harford Tech Cobras 58 The Rams walked into Harford Tech's Snake Pit atop the Hatem division but the Cobras had plans to rattle the standings. Harford Tech's Mateo "Taco" Hiett was able to bucket 17 points with 8 rebounds to lead the Cobras, helped out by Junior Joel Dukes with 14 and Levi Ridley's 10. Edgewood Rams had the usual suspects.. Sean Kellum hit for 16 with his sidekick Isiah Deyo being the high-man with 20 of his own. A back and forth affair throughout the 4th period ended on a last second shot. Last Monday, Loch Raven senior guard John Artis III scored his 1,000th point on the road in the Raiders win over the Carver Wildcats. The basket came with just 40.6 remaining in the first half, on a play where Artis drove from the wing into the paint, before shooting off the backboard while getting fouled. The basket gave the Raiders a 32-11 lead, prompting a timeout for a brief celebration on the sideline. Loch Raven went on to defeat Carver with a final score of 75-29. This season marked a return to Loch Raven for Artis, after transferring to New Hope Academy in Baltimore for his junior season. In his senior campaign, Artis ranks among the top scorers in Baltimore County, averaging 21.7 points per game according to head coach Brandon Thomas. As a sophomore, Coach Thomas described Artis as a younger and quieter athlete, but challenged him to come out of his shell this season. “I was looking for John to become more of a leader and to be more vocal” Coach Thomas explained. Artis is garnering interest from several collegiate programs. The top of his list includes schools such as St. Mary’s College of Maryland in Southern Maryland, Stevenson University in Baltimore County, Bowie State University in Prince George’s County, as well as several other junior college programs. With his sights set on playing at the next level, Artis has been an integral part in the success of the Loch Raven program throughout this season. Coach Thomas described him as a “true leader”, citing his lead-by-example attitude, assisting on both sides of the ball while picking his teammates up when needed. The Raiders have put together an extraordinary season this winter. After a five point loss in the regional championship last season, Loch Raven currently sits at 8-5. After a 1-5 stretch from the middle of December to earlier this month, the team is currently riding a four-game win streak, including three consecutive road wins against Carver, Sparrows Point, and Patapsco. With just eight games remaining in the regular season, Coach Thomas is simply hoping for Artis, as well as the rest of the team, to remain consistent. After losing seven seniors from last year’s squad, he believes that the current team has reestablished their culture and a real defensive mind. Thomas also explained that it has been rewarding to see the team put everything together, and seeing the results pay off on the court. Loch Raven will head home for a home game this Friday against the 8-3 Overlea Falcons, before two more home matches next week against Kenwood on Wednesday, and Parkville on Friday.
