Yesterday afternoon, Mardela did the impossible in beating out Catoctin in the 1A Softball State Finals. Mardela was down 3-0 in the 4th inning, but the girls didn’t give up and put up a massive performance to complete the comeback. They would secure their win in the last play of the 7th inning, making the final run to finish off the game. Both teams played their hearts out yesterday. Shoutout to Taylor Smith, Ava Twilley, and Julia Wisk for putting up big performances for their teams yesterday. Congratulations to Mardela on their massive win! We shall see if they can do it again next season!

Mardela makes the last second steal and come away with a thrilling one point win over Arcadia
While Indian River jumped ahead early, Mardela took a two-point lead into the second with an aggressive half-court press, forcing turnovers and giving the Warriors fast-break opportunities. This led to a 26-7 run, allowing Mardela to build a double-digit lead by halftime, which they never relinquished. Darion Collins led the way off the bench with 21 points, while Josiah Sherwood was a dominant force inside.
With excellent corner routines and a hat trick of assists by Hannah Devincent, Liberty girls soccer defeats Mardela 3-0 and takes the 1A title! The boys will try to follow up against Brunswick, who is going for their third state title in 4 years.
