The Arundel Wildcats made history by claiming their first state championship since 1975, defeating the previously undefeated Linganore Lancers 35-7 in a dominant performance. From the opening whistle, Arundel showed their strength, scoring a touchdown just 35 seconds into the game and never looking back. By halftime, the Wildcats had built a commanding 20-0 lead. Arundel’s defense played a key role in the victory, stifling Linganore’s high-powered offense. The Wildcats held Linganore’s star rusher, Bradly Matthews, , to a just 21 yards in the game—a testament to the Wildcats’ defensive prowess. Despite a setback earlier in the season, where they lost a close game to Broadneck in the final seconds, Arundel’s response was nothing short of impressive. The Wildcats bounced back with a vengeance, scoring more than 60 points in four consecutive games and only allowing a total of 12 points in their final three contests leading up to the playoffs. This turnaround and overall team performance earned Arundel their long-awaited state title, solidifying their place in Maryland football history.
