https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-AwtRmirAA 🏀🏀 ROAD TO UMBC MPSSAA 4A BOYS REGIONAL SEMIFINAL 🆚 Severn Run vs Meade 📍Meade Senior HS Awhile back during football season, I remember speaking with Coach McNeill who hinted at facing his former school Meade possibly ossiin the playoffs. I got the sense he realized this may be a reoccurring thing with Severn Run in the 4A. Two coaches who are familiar with each other and familiar with one another’s players. It was amazing now to finally see it come to fruition: see playetsanothetstheireithgamieaeachnothetingCoach Michael Glick, faces off against his former assistant coach, Coach David McDNeill. The atmosphere was set forbsomefor some real good basketball. Anyways, let’s get in to the game recap: 1ST QTR - This was all dominated by Meade. The Mustangs went on an 18-2 run. Varsity ⭐️ Keon Scott landed a few tres, one which was almost at the Meade center court logo. 2ND QTR - Severn started making a good comeback cutting Meade’s lead to within 8pts. This was due to the Wolves pressing, getting critical turnovers and quick scoop and scores. However, Mustangs maintained their dominance going into the half, 36-18. 2ND HALF - Meade Mustangs pretty much kept their foot on the gas and didn’t let off. Meade’s #32 Justin Terry, really made a name for himself getting good rebounds and scoring in critical times. However, that is not to say, the Wolves didn’t put up a fight. They really fought to the very end of the game. Both teams let their bench’s shine. They got their moments to drop a three or make a big play. OVERALL, this was awesome to watch. CONGRATULATIONS MUSTANGS as you advance on to the next round. GOOD GAME WOLVES, super proud of you guys. Great season, bigger things are on the horizon. LOVE THE BOTH OF YOU!!!! Giving my age here but I was a teenager when River Hill HS was the new school in Howard County. At that time they were housing kids from Wilde Lake due to overcrowding and the rebuilding of the school. Entering the school, it was amazing looking at all the State Championship banners on their gym wall. Proud of the success they have achieved. This day, their JV & Varsity were looking to continue shining that athletic excellence. Severn Run, is now the new kid on the block. A school in their second year, came to Howard County to establish themselves as volleyball powerhouse. Yes the stage was set in this double header extravaganza. JV FINAL WOLVES - 0 HAWKS - 2 SET 1: WOLVES - 15 HAWKS - 25 SET 2: WOLVES - 23 HAWKS - 25 The Hawks started off to a big lead in the first set capitalizing off a few miscues from the Wolves. Soon the Wolves were gaining a good rhythm. They started to make a comeback. The battle really ensued in the second set as the two fought neck and neck to the end of the it as you can see by the score. HATS OFF to these ladies for their hard work they put in. VARSITY FINAL WOLVES - 2 HAWKS - 3 SET 1: WOLVES - 21 HAWKS - 25 SET 2: WOLVES - 26 HAWKS - 24 SET 3: WOLVES - 19 HAWKS - 25 SET 4: WOLVES - 25 HAWKS - 23 SET 5: WOLVES - 11 HAWKS - 15 Every single set that took place for the varsity was absolutely exciting, from beginning until the end. As you witness the set scores, you can see they were pretty close. BOTH excelled in communication, setting, hitting and digs. I was quite impressed BOTH teams attention to detail. River Hill took the victory in the final set, but that did not come easy as the Wolves gave them a run for their money. CONGRATS River Hill on your victories. You guys are wonderful. Keep working hard and having the success you are in Howard County. KEEP SHINING Severn Run, you ladies are awesome. You continue fighting for greatness. Look forward to seeing more of your success. The Northeast Eagles, both JV and Varsity, were facing the Severn Run Wolves at an event honoring breast cancer survivors and bringing awareness to it (called DIG PINK). MFV has covered these two teams before and I deeply respect them for what each is trying to build. The stage was being set up for a good matchup between these two lovely schools. Let’s dive in to what happened for the JV and Varsity matches: JV GAME RECAP It was very clear that the Wolves were dominate during the sets. Northeast started off well in each one. You can tell these ladies are doing their absolute best to adapt to the game. The Wolves had very good communication. I think the Eagles are learning, and that is a good thing. Severn Run seemed to know where to attack Northeast. I loved though when the Eagles made an excellent play. It was exciting seeing them light up each point they got. Don’t be discouraged Eagles because a match victory didn’t come. You guys are in a very good position. Keep Grinding, keep working, and keep climbing to new heights. It was awesome watching you play. Congrats to the Eagles for gaining another win. Keep doing what you’re doing. Be encouraged, and continue communicating well on the court. They took hold of the game scaring me with their sets and kills. The elevation their pin hitters would reach to hit was absolutely amazing. It was quick too, which I alerted to get out of the way. Northeast did have a bit of a comeback in Set 2. The Eagles are strong and I loved seeing them give maximum effort. Also, they kept good body language when a play didn’t favor them. The Eagles looked like they really love to play the game. EAGLES, continue doing what you do. Keep that fervor you have to be excellent. It shows and shines bright. You guys continue enjoying the game and don’t give up. WOLVES, it was a pleasure to cover you. You guys have improved from the last time. You are working hard, and I am so proud of your accomplishments. Special congrats to Xaria Johnson on reaching 300 assists and only a sophomore. 🏐🏐 GIRLS VOLLEYBALL GAME OF THE WEEK 🆚 Broadneck x Severn Run Volleyball Highlights. GAME RECAP Good Ole Maryland traffic held me back a bit, as I was trying to arrive early enough to capture some more JV volleyball highlights. The Severn Run Lady Wolves had their game faces on, ready to get a win. They had mentioned to MFVAllSportsNetwork at their media day, this game against the Broadneck Bruins was one of their most highly anticipated. The Bruins looked poised, wanting to continue their county win streak. Both teams were undefeated in Anne Arundel Conference play. The stage was set, let’s see who came out on top.. SET 1: BRUINS - 25 WOLVES - 9 The Wolves were the first to serve which was quickly countered with an unstoppable spike by the Lady Bruins. Bruins then went on a strong lead before Severn Run started to make a comeback. However, Broadneck was able to hold strong and came out the victors. SET 2: BRUINS - 25 WOLVES - 17 With now the Broadneck serving first, Severn Run took an early lead. Some aces and strong saves enabled them to stay on top for a little. The set continued to be a back and forth thing.. Broadneck was able to finish again with the win. SET 3: BRUINS - 25 WOLVES - 22 There was a bit of back-and-forth of crowd banter (friendly), as the student section of Severn Run & Broadneck JV teams chanted at one other. It was very entertaining to watch. It also set the mood for this final set. The Lady Wolves gained a pretty sizable lead. But slowly but surely, key plays enabled the Broadneck Lady Bruins to catch back up. The game was tied at 22, to where the Bruins controlled the serves and took the final match and won. Definitely was exciting. To the Severn Run Lady Wolves, SUPER PROUD of you guys. You played absolutely great. The outcome is not desirable, but I trust you’ll bounce back, fix any thing your coaches point out and be back at it again. Lady Bruins, you all played with excellence.
