In a game with playoff seeding implications for both teams, the Rockets of Richard Montgomery proved to be the more noble team with a resounding 18-7 victory over the Barons of BCC. The Rockets offense got off to a quick start led again by their Freshman QB Serach Jackson as they marched the length of the field to score a touchdown on their opening drive. Two impressive runs, one by the QB and the other by senior speedster Hayden Williams resulted in two first downs. Serach then played catch with her favorite target steady senior Ella Cummings completing a big yardage gainer over the middle. After a false start cost the Rockets a 10 yard penalty, Serach calmly found Ella behind the defense tossing a dot for the duo's team leading seventh touchdown of the season? After the Rockets failed to convert on a fourth down, the Baron's took advantage of a short field scoring a touchdown making the score 7-6 at the half. The defense was explosive in the first half, shutting down BCC's rushing attack as safety Kennedi Peppins had a half a dozen flag pulls. Freshman Katelyn Marchetti was at it again with a key momentum stopping interception. It was her team leading eighth of the year. The teams played a game of punts as the pressure mounted and the everyone waited to see who would blink first in this tough conference match up. Then midway through the second half the Rockets were backed up facing a 3rd and long, when suddenly their Freshman QB dubbed Serocket took off on a 45 yard run that had her run not been slowed by a two handed grab of her skirt she would have most certainly have touched down in the endzone. After the 10 yard penalty was assessed by the refs, the Rockets found themselves at the 5 yard line. Hayden Williams eluded three defenders on her sprint to the endzone giving the Rockets a 12-7 they would never relinquish. Coach Adrian had the defense playing lights out in the second half as they made the Baron's offense one dimensional. Rockets defenders Serach (LB), Kennedi (S) and Anjolie (DB) were dominant in stifling the Baron's short passing game. Katelyn and Ella covered the long game, while Alexi, Kimmie, and Kennedi blew up the run game for big yardage losses. The whip cream, syrup and cherry π on topπ¨ came with less than a minute left on the clock. It was 4th down and forever. The Baron's were on life-support hoping for a miracle, when Kennedi Peppins the Rockets super aggressive safety leaped high to intercept the Hail Mary pass and Derrick Henry'd her way over, around and through the Lady Baron's for a pick six in an overpowering display of athleticism as the clock ticked down to :00. Game, set and match 18-7. 'Rockettes" WIN!!!!!! The Rockets end the regular season on a 4-game winning streak, finishing with an impressive 7-3 overall record and a 4-1 record on the road. On to the playoffs. Rocket fans represent!!! Congratulations Lady Rockets Coaches Mensah, Adrian and Tibbs.
