Calvert High School girls’ volleyball (11-6) made a run in the postseason, despite being the lowest seed to make the state volleyball championship out of all classes. Clenching the regional final versus Calvert County’s Huntingtown (11-4) was the big game that kickstarted their journey. After losing to them in the regular season, they were able to fight to come up with a 3-2 win. After defeating Huntingtown, they went on to defeat the defending state championship team, Williamsport, to clinch a spot in the state championship. As a bottom seed, Calvert High did not earn a bye and had to beat five teams in the playoffs to get to the championship. Ending their season as a runner-up to the Centennial Eagles in the 2A state championship, Calvert is proud of their run and attempt at the title, and hopefully will use the fuel from the loss to light a fire for next season.
