Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, but North Harford defeated Fallston Vars 3-0. Collin Kight started the game for North Harford and recorded 21 outs. A sacrifice fly by Jedd Carll put the Hawks on the board in the top of the third. Kight earned the win allowing one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking none. Reese Conley took the loss, going five innings, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out four and walking six. Nathaniel Burd, Sean Ellis, Matt Hart, and Carll each collected one hit. Kight, Ellis, and Carll each drove in one run. North Harford had a strong eye at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game. Jackson Armiger and Tucker Deal led the team with two bases on balls each. Armiger stole two bases. North Harford didn't commit a single error in the field. Mason French had the most chances in the field with 10.
Huskies battled but could not come up with a timely hit leaving 12+ batters stranded in this one. A few errors on our end led to some unearned runs early and we fought back hard. A Peter Weber double in the seventh made it 4-3 with second and third but an infield ground out, flyout, intentional walk and pop out ended our threat of walking it off. Mason Hemelt and Brycen Hunter pitched well giving us a chance, but we could not find that final hit when it counted most.
On April 3, the Pikesville Panthers traveled to the east side of Baltimore County to take on the Eastern Tech Mavericks in a varsity baseball match. This is Pikesville's third game in three days. They come in 2-0 on the week defeating Catonsville and Franklin. Eastern Tech had an off day yesterday but lost to the Towson Generals on April 1. The first inning and a half went by with little action, but in the bottom of the second, Eastern Tech's Eli Irwin knocked a base hit into left field to score the first run of the game. In the bottom of the third, Kingston Lawrence flew out to right field, but the runner on second scored after tagging up and the ball went out of play on the throw in, giving the Mavericks a 2-0 lead. In the top of the fourth, Pikesville's Karron Gamble answered. With the bases loaded and just one out, Gamble singled on a line drive into right field, tying the game 2-2. Pikesville threatened in the top of the sixth, but stranded bases loaded with two outs. Both teams went down quietly in the seventh, and this game headed to extras tied at two. To kick off extra innings, Pikesville went down 1-2-3 in the top of the eighth. With a chance to end the game, the Mavericks could not get a baserunner in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the ninth, Pikesville loaded the bases with just one out. Kairee Williams stepped to the plate for the Panthers, but lined out to second baseman Nate Noyes, who stepped on second base to finish the double play and get the Mavericks out of a jam. In the bottom of the ninth, with runners on first and second, Noyes forced an error on a hard ground ball to third, a run scored, and Eastern Tech took down the Panthers 3-2 in nine innings. Eastern Tech's Kingston Lawrence picked up the victory, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up two hits and no runs. For the Panthers, Michael hagan was tagged with the loss, going 0.2 innings while giving up one hit, one walk, and one earned run. Special shoutout to starting pitchers Rob Peterson on the Mavericks and Isaac Garonzik on the Panthers who each threw 110 pitches in the game. Pikesville has a few days off before taking on the Kenwood Bluebirds at home while the Mavericks will host the Hereford Bulls at home on Monday.
