On Thursday, the Carver Wildcats traveled to Loch Raven in the MPSSAA Class 1A South Regional Finals and finished the game in five innings, 13-1. The game was a rout from the bottom of the first onward, this was largely thanks to an aggressive baserunning approach and taking advantage of any mistakes Loch Raven made. After a quick top half of the first Carver came out fast and scored five runs without getting out. The Wildcats began getting into a groove by getting a walk, bunt single, and a liner past the third basemen that cleared the basepaths and made the game 2-0. The next hitter came up and launched a ball to right that landed near a steep hill, the outfielder managed to get the ball out but the throw to the cut off was wild and let everyone run home. These errors would be a common occurrence on the Raiders side, as right after the homer a pop-up was hit to center field, this should've been out number one but the fielder muffed the catch; this allowed Carver to have a free base runner on third that got sent home the next at bat thanks to a groundout. The next batter was thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple, and the inning finally ended thanks to a strikeout. Carver also had two walks and stolen bases this inning, both of these things would be a key factor in why they were so dominant After Carver’s pitcher struck out the side to make up for a fielding error, the girls came back out hoping to continue their momentum. Another walk led to a wild pitch which put the runner on second, the baserunner wasn’t satisfied with this however and stole third. The fourth walk in two innings by Loch Raven’s pitcher put runners on the corners. They wouldn’t stay there long though, a two-rbi double cleared the bases and made it 7-0. Almost an identical sequence to the last happened as another walk and another wild pitch put runners on the corners again. The third wild pitch of the inning allowed another run to score and the runner to advance to second, then third on a groundout. A sacrifice bunt sent another runner home, but the Wildcats managed to rally with two outs and turned two singles into a run thanks to a wild pitch. Carver would be retired with the score being 10-0. A five pitch inning from Carvers pitcher led to the girls getting another run home thanks to a sacrifice fly. This only happened because the runner advanced from a double to third on another pitch that the catcher couldn’t control. This and the walking of batters contributed to the Raiders losing, as they contributed just as many runs from errors or errant pitchers as Carver did from swinging the bat. The top and bottom halves of the third passed and in the fourth Carver got another run home while the Raiders managed to get their first hit of the game with a two out solo home run due to the fielder losing the ball in the tall grass hill. They would get two more hits before the inning ended for them. The fifth and final inning saw Loch Raven swap in a position player to soft toss and potentially throw off Carver's rhythm. It seemed to work well enough, but most hitters were fine with challenging the pitcher to throw in the zone, this led to a walk that eventually came around to score. Two singles and a throwing error to first loaded the bases, but the Raiders pitcher showed good composure in being able to force weak contact and get a forceout at second, ending the inning. This wouldn’t change the result of the game though, a quick one, two, three inning from Carver ended the game and crowned them as region champions.

The Harford Tech Cobras played host to the North East Indians for a 2A Softball Regional Semi Final matchup and in a rematch of last year's game that North East won 9 to 1. From the top of the first inning, it was evident a pitcher's duel was about to unfold and what team would blink first. Through the first 5 innings, Tech's Abby Reed was in control in the circle. She only allowed 2 hits while striking out 7 and walking none. Not to be out done, North East's pitcher A Doctor was also throwing a jem. Through 4 innings, she struck out 10 while only giving up 3 hits. In the bottom of the 5th, the Cobras were able to get a lead off triple by Brianna Lunenfeld, followed by a bunt single by Lillie Uttenreither to set the table for Aubrey Gump. Gump stepped to the plate with one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd and promptly drove a 2 ball 1 strike pitch to right field for a 2 RBI single. Gump advanced all the way to 3rd on the play at the plate but was unable to score. That would be all the runs Reed would need. Reed and the Tech defense recorded the next 6 outs to secure the victory and advance to a Regional Final matchup against Rising Sun. Gump finished 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's and a stolen base. Reed pitched a complete game going 7 innings, allowing no runs, 3 hits, while walking none and striking out 9 countysports.zone/scores/view/xNANAUoMTVnVppqefRnkQ
From Coach Reider "Harford Tech bats failed to show up at the game as the Cougars out hit the Cobras 15 to 3 on their way to an easy 12 to 4 victory. Fallston got off to a quick start with 2 runs in the top of the first. The Cobras loaded the bases in the bottom of the 1st with only 1 out, but they were only able to score 1 run. In the top of the 2nd, the Cougars pilled on 6 more runs to widen the lead. The Cobras mounted a 2 out rally and scored 3 in the bottom of the 2nd to cut the lead to 8 to 4 but that was as close as Tech could get the remainder of the game. Fallston scored 3 more in the 6th and 1 in the 7th for a final score of 12 to 4. The Cobras were lead by Jessica Bouthet who went 2 for 3 with a double, 1 RBI and a walk and Lacey Swart who had an RBI Triple." countysports.zone/scores/view/PZ2mG0NsNB4c038wNqBEe
