The Albert Einstein Titans collected a much-needed 34-14 victory last Thursday vs the Poolesville Falcons in a game that for the most part was dominated by the Titans, avenging the 44-38 loss Einstein was dealt in last season's iteration of the game. The Einstein passing game was picking apart the Poolesville secondary thanks to hard, accurate throws from sophomore quarterback Jonah Elinoff. Elinoff would constantly find his apparent number one receiver, junior Rysen Wilbon, who had a monster game consuming plenty of catches with multiple touchdowns. The connection these two displayed led the Titans to a 26-6 halftime lead, achieving the team's second-highest point total of the season in just one half. The Falcons would slowly start to chip away at the deficit with a score in the third quarter thanks to their lucrative passing game, along with a few self-inflicted wounds the Titans dealt onto themselves, including an unsportsmanlike taunting penalty that occurred on fourth down while on defense. After cutting the lead to 26-14, Poolesville seriously turned the game on its head by attempting and recovering a surprise onside kick, giving them the ball with the chance to make it a one-score game. The Einstein defense held firm, forcing a turnover and scoring the game-sealing touchdown on a stop-and-go fade from Elinoff to Wilbon, securing the statement win. Next week Einstein will host Wheaton on senior night. Poolesville will travel down Randolph Road to battle Kennedy in their final regular season game.
