Last night, Wootton Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, faced the Rockville Rams in an important region face-off. This was Wootton's first game of the season and they started off strong. Senior Captain Emory Scofield finished with 7 goals. Wootton played two goalies this game, Nicole Matcharadze and Sarah Podberesky, both made many incredible saves when it counted for the Patriots. The game ended with a Patriots win 13-4, with neither team scoring in the third quarter. The Patriots play at Wootton tomorrow in their next game against Magruder @7:00 pm.

On May 8, the Einstein Titans suffer a heartbreaking 11-10 defeat against the Springbrook blue devils. Both teams were facing each other with some tension after Einstein barely escaped a 7-6 overtime win in the last meeting between the titans and the Blue Devils. Einstein made sure to enter the game aggressive as the game started. The Titans played strong offense with the help of key passes that led to a goal by #18 Chase Tucker. Tucker continued to not be an absence as the JV bump up scored another goal off of a penalty shot. #5 Paige shultz strengthened the lead with a strong rush near the goal. Springbrook continued to play with agility despite the lead Einstein possessed, winning every face off and starting to grow momentum. This momentum worked as Springbrook came back from the 3 goal deficit and scored 3 goals all from penalty shots. The first quarter ended with a 3-3 intense game. Springbrook brought the game leveled as the 2nd quarter started, but that momentum slowly started to end as Einstein made sure to not let up another 3 goal lead. #17 Jocelyn Kay would have a strong 1 on 1 goal to get the lead back. Einstein continued with the offensive aggression again from a penalty shot, as teams know its almost a 99% chance Limauro scores off of a penalty. The blue devils goalie made sure to keep the lead from getting worse in having 6 total saves, but wasn’t enough for another Limauro Goal into the bottom net. The half ended with a 6-3 Titans lead. Titans continued to progress as the 2nd half started, scoring a quick goal by Kay once again from getting wide open. Springbrook knew they would have to keep the game close seeing the 3 goal lead once again, in which they did make it close. Springbrook would score 3 additional goals with the help of players #10 and #2, bringing the Einstein lead down to one at 2:34, but Einstein wanted to make the lead slightly bigger, with Shutltz once again adding up to the lead. The quarter ended with a 9-7 lead. Springbrook continue the momentum and mindset of a comeback as the last quarter came in, despite #11 Lena Fleschner starting goal. A controversial move came into play for the Titans, subbing out the starting goalie for the backup this late into the game in the playoffs. This would cost the titans, with Springbrook tying up the score at 10-10 minutes laters with only a minute left. The faceoff commenced with Springbrook winning the ground ball and took one last push towards Einstein. The Titans would give up a crucial last second penalty shot with 17 seconds remaining in the 4th. Springbrook would score the penalty shot by #10 Zepporra Linday in completing the comeback and winning the game 11-10. The Titans season ends in a heart breaker as Springbrook will head to regional finals and will either face Richard Montgomery or Wheaton.

On April 29, the Einstein Girls defeated the Gaithersburg Trojans in a strong 19-10 victory. The game instantly started for both teams after the Boys Lax game under the doubleheader. As the 1st quarter commenced, the Titans made sure they started the game with a strong lead despite seeing the 0-10 record the Trojans held. Einstein first put points on the board 43 seconds in with a goal from #13 Elena Limauro, a player most defenders are afraid to face when she enters near the crease. Einstein later scored 5 more goals in the first quarter, with #23 Charlotte Richey scored her first goal on Varsity after being bumped up from JV. Gaithersburg would pull one back in order to keep hopes up. The quarter ended 6-1 with the Titans leading. Gaithersburg would enter the 2nd quarter in scoring one more to make sure the morale was high in the deficit, but the Titans wouldn't allow any hope despite substitutes in play. JV bump ups scoring their first varsity goals was seen to be a trend within the game, with Einstein player #24 Morgan Young being in the spotlight with her first varsity score. Limauro would continue to play as usual in rushing within the crease, scoring a hat trick alone and recording 5 goals in the first half. #5 Paige Shultz and #7 Caroline Davis increased the deficit in making sure there's no sign of coming back. The first half ended 12-3 with Einstein Dominating. Gaithersburg knew the mercy rule was just around the corner for the Titans going into the 3rd quarter. Einstein would score two more additional goals from Davis and #1 Kendall Korball, all in the same area of the top of the net. Gaithersburg suddenly started an offensive surge after the last two Einstein Goals, scoring a total of 5 goals out of 9 shots and #20 securing the hat-trick for Gaithersburg. It was noticeable that the Einstein defense started to slow down after seeing the lead. The quarter ended with a short 15-8 Einstein Lead. A slow 3rd defensive quarter for the Titans made sure to wake the entire team up and prevent a comeback going into the 4th quarter. The Titans added back some starters into the field and made sure to put the game to rest. Einstein player #17 Maddie Huth put up another tally as the 3rd JV bump up player to score in this game. Richey would also continue to shine in adding two more goals and claiming a hat trick in her 2nd career varsity game. Limauro and Fleschner added two more to the scoreboard as the dagger, with the final score being 19-10. The Titans move up to 6-4 and will play Kennedy on senior night as the Trojans drop to a 0-11 record and face Quince Orchard in hopes of adding a win column.

On April 25, The Girls Einstein Titans defeated the Watkins Mills Wolverines in a strong 11-4 victory. The 1st quarter revolved around Einstein Dominance, winning multiple ground balls and keeping the game on Wolverine Territory. Einstein attacker #7 Caroline Davis put the first points on the board from a simple penalty shot. The goals wouldn’t end for Einstein as they scored two more from players such as #5 Paige Shultz and and #21 Kayla Rich. Watkins Mills was seen invisible offensively and did not take a single shot in Einstein territory, ending the quarter with a 3-0 Titan lead. Knowing that the Titans would play their emergency game the next day against Springbrook, most starters for Einstein were benched to let the Substitutes get some playtime at the start of the 2nd quarter. Watkins Mills started to finally show signs of life after a strong bull rush goal from captain #21 Olivia Girard. The Wolverines were gaining momentum but the Einstein defense made sure it stood ground. The Titans extended the lead after a #13 Elena Limauro penalty goal, Limauro is known to be excellent when taking penalties. It was a quiet 2nd quarter for both teams and the first half ended 4-1 going towards Einstein. Watkins Mill’s goalie started showing signs of frustration leading up to the start of the 3rd quarter, and the Titans made sure to make it slightly worse for her. Einstein would score 4 more goals in the 3rd quarter, with 3 out of the 4 being taken in the penalty area. Einstein was lucky enough to get this foul called as a result of being aggressive into the crease. Player #2 Sara Torre Limas, pulled one back to reduce the deficit Watkins mills was facing, ending the quarter 8-2. Despite the deficit growing stronger, the Watkins Mills starters were still in play due to the roster only consisting of 12 players, just enough to run a full team in a game. Most of Einstein starters were back in the game to gain some playtime heading into the 4th quarter. Making sure this game was put to a close, the Titans scored 3 more goals, once again from Limauro and from #5 Paige Shultz, who secured the hat trick. Watkins Mill would allow these goals after a play call in which all the players grouped up at the middle of the crease and rushed in an attempt to score, without knowing the middle of the field was completely open once they lost the ball. The bizarre game plan led to a bigger lead for Einstein and more frustration towards the goalie. Girard would achieve a hat trick with two goals in the 4th but was seemingly too late, ending the game with an 11-4 Einstein Win. The Titans move up to 5-4 and will face their makeup game against Springbrook on Friday as Watkins Mills drops to 1-9 and next faces Wheaton on the road.

It wasn’t much of a pleasant game for the Einstein girls, after they were beaten by Blair on a 5-16 defeat. Entering the 1st quarter, Einstein would start aggressively forcing their way into Blair territory. The Titans possessed a good amount of time staying in Blair territory, but couldn’t get that ball behind the net due to Blair’s goalie. The Blazers would send in a counter attack, getting the first goal of the game scored by player #20 Camy Klinger. Einstein would continue winning faceoffs but easily lost the ball, leading to Klinger scoring one more goal from a penalty. Einstein player #5 Paige Shultz pulled one back from an impressive goal making a player trip from a spin move, but seemed pointless after the Titans scored an own goal and with another penalty goal for Blair, ending the 1st quarter with a 1-4 Blair Lead. Einstein would continue to fight in reducing the strong gap Blair contained going into the 2nd half. Einstein started playing more aggressively within their midfielders and were able to enter Blair territory within minutes. The Titans were finally able to benefit from penalty shots, with player #13 Elena Lamauro scored off a penalty shot and from a swift attack into the middle of the crease. Morale started to get better for the titans, but started to drought again after Klinger scored another penalty goal to the bottom of the net. The first half ended 3-5 with a small lead for Blair. As the game progressed into the 3rd quarter, growing pains finally started to demonstrate for the Titans. Einstein struggled in guarding the Blair players man-on-man, as each Blair player showed signs of high speed and swiftness in getting past the Titans. This struggle only led to the crumble of the Titans defense, leading to Blair scoring 6 goals in the 3rd quarter, along with Klinger securing the hat trick. It was now seem doubtful for Einstein to win this game, despite Einstein player #7 Caroline Davis pulling one back. The 3rd quarter ended with a score of 4-11 leaning towards the Blairs. As the huddle broke out for the Titans, every player yelled out “Finish Strong”, hoping to end this deficit on a positive note. Blair made sure they continued adding fuel to the fire, as they moved their starting defenders to attack. This led to Blair continuing to play amazing despite the position change, adding 3 more goals onto the Einstein scoreboard. Player #5 Paige Shultz would later score in the 4th quarter, but was deemed too late. Both teams came in with high tension and the Blazers made sure to put the nail on the coffin. Blair scored one last goal in the last second as time expired, ending the game with Blair winning 5-16. Einstein drops down to 4-3 and will face Walter Johnson on the road, as Blair progresses up to 3-4 and will travel to Springbrook.

On a late April 7th evening game, The Einstein Titans dominated against the Seneca Valley Screaming Eagles in an 14-3 win. The first quarter started with Einstein starting off strong with a goal from Einstein player #13 Elena Limauro scoring off of a penalty shot from Seneca. Einstein would score another penalty shot scored by player #7 Caroline Davis, shooting at the bottom right of the crease. Einstein continued to maintain possession the entirety of the first quarter, scoring one more goal and taking a total of 9 shots, compared to Seneca's zero shot attempts. The quarter ended 3-0 with the Titans leading. Einstein continued to demonstrate a strong offense heading into the second quarter, scoring 8 additional goals with Davis and Limauro securing the hat trick. Seneca was unable to win face-offs after each Einstein Goal, with Einstein winning every single face off. Seneca was seen invisible in possession of the ball, with Einstein keeping the entire second quarter in Seneca territory. The first half ended with a score of 11-0 with Einstein being 11/21 in goals/shots while Seneca was still not able to attempt a single shot. The 2nd half started with Einstein continuing to play strong despite subbing out their starters that made a major impact earlier into the game. Limauro scored one more goal securing her fourth along with Einstein player #15 Cassidy Miller scored a goal off of a penalty shot. Despite the score being 13-0, the screaming eagles continued to hustle in at least making the deficit less embarrassing, in which they scored a goal off of a counter attack on their very first shot attempt. Most of Einstein's starters were subbed out entering the 4th quarter. The Titans played less aggressive and tested out new defensive schemes in being comfortable with a 13 point lead. Einstein player #11 Lena Fleschner, scored one more goal into the top right corner of the next in securing a brace. Seneca would also later score a goal with 5 minutes remaining but only in the matter of reducing the deficit. Einstein finished the game winning 14-2. The Einstein Titans move up to 4-2 and will face Blair for their next game at home as the Seneca Screaming Eagles move down to 1-5 and will face BCC at home for their next match up.

The girls lacrosse team for the Einstein titans beat the Clarksburg coyotes after an intense 6 overtime period match, winning 6-5 after the end of extended time. The match started with a very fast Clarksburg goal from Clarksburg player #18 Caitlyn Choy shooting the lacrosse ball into the right corner of the net. The short lead was pulled back with an Einstein goal from Einstein player #11 Lena Fleschner, after a strong swifty spin move in getting towards the net. The 2nd quarter remained slow with both defenses playing strong within the creese, with Einstein playing double players onto clarksburg, prevent them from scoring. This would lead to an advantage with Einstein scoring from Elena Limauro from a penalty shot. The first half ended 2-1 with Einstein leading. Entering the 2nd half, Clarksburg started showing more momentum than Einstein and scored 2 goals, 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. These were once again scored by Choy, securing the hat trick early. Clarksburg continued to contain the ball more than Einstein, but had a crucial mistake when one of the players had it fall from the stick, leading to an Einstein goal. The 4th quarter contained the most madness within the game, having a tied game with both teams showing strong offensive consistency but couldn’t take advantage of shots. Clarksburg would take the lead again with 6 minutes remaining, until Fleshcner pulled the lead back in scoring her brace. The Titans later scored a strong goal from player #17 Jocelyn Kay, after finding space on the right side of the creese and shooting it in. This lead shortly ended after Clarksburg scored with one minute remaining, taking the game to overtime. Both teams played a fair two periods of overtime but couldn’t score a game winner, the refs were seen discussing at the field and decided to keep the game going in sudden death. This lasted a total of 6th overtime periods, with both girl Lacrosse goalies making crucial saves in keeping their team alive. Einstein had the upper hand of course, scoring the game winner with 1:13 remaining in the 6th period of OT. Einstein Girls move to a 1-1 record after an intense home opener while Clarksburg moves to an 0-2 record.

This evening the Rockville Rams went against the Richard Montgomery Rockets in their last regular season game. The Rams lost to the Rockets with a score of 6-12. The Rockets started the game with 4 quick goals in 5 minutes from player Keira Koenig. The Rams wanted to match their energy so Molly Hansen took the initiative and led the Rams to their first goal of the night with a tough fight for the goal. Molly didn't stop there, she ended the same with 5 goals being assisted in 3 of those by senior Holly Krawczel making them the dynamic duo of the Rockville side. Although once the Rockets saw that the Rams started to become more aggressive, they also stepped it up. Ultimately the Rockville Rams would fall short by a score of 6-12.
