🥍 🥍 ROAD TO STEVENSON
MPSSAA 3A SEMIFINAL
Towson vs Marriotts Ridge

Took a drive up to Gaithersburg HS, to witness the MPSSAA LAX 3A Semifinal round between the Towson Generals and the Marriotts Ridge Mustangs. This was the kind of game you see in the playoffs. Not high scoring, as these two battled it out. It was play hard or go home. BIG THANKS to GAITHERSBURG HS as gracious hospitable hosts. RIDGE, congratulations on your season. You represented Howard County well. GENERALS, SHOUTS to you and congrats on advancing to STATES, which will be a rematch of 2024 vs Severna Park. LOVE your energy, keep rocking it. Enjoy the highlights

 Final Score: GENERALS - 8 MUSTANGS - 3

In a fierce battle that came down to the final seconds, the Edgewood Rams edged out the Joppatowne Mariners 9–8 in a high-octane boys lacrosse matchup marked by relentless back-and-forth action, physical play, and dramatic momentum swings. From the first whistle, both teams came out swinging—trading goals and matching each other’s intensity in a contest that never saw either side pull far ahead. The game was a true tug-of-war, with each possession met by resistance and each goal answered with urgency. The Rams saw standout performances across the board: Joram Jensen led the scoring effort with a hat trick, while Ezra England delivered two critical goals and controlled the clock late in the game with expert ball handling under pressure. Kareem Wallace contributed a goal and an assist, Khalile Brice and Jarrod Burton each added one, and Adrian Wright found the net as well. As tensions mounted in the closing minutes, England’s composure proved decisive. With Edgewood clinging to a one-goal lead, he held possession at the Mariners’ end, bleeding the clock and drawing heavy defensive pressure as the seconds ticked away. His control helped secure the win, silencing a late Joppatowne push and sealing a hard-fought victory. The gritty win moves Edgewood forward with momentum, while Joppatowne walks away with heads high after a tenacious performance in one of the season’s most thrilling contests.

I am beyond proud to share the incredible news that my high school lacrosse coach, Rick Brocato, is being inducted into the National Interscholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association’s Hall of Fame in 2024. This well-deserved honor is a testament to Coach Broc’s outstanding career, marked by his remarkable success and profound impact on the lacrosse community. Coach Broc's tenure at St. Paul’s was nothing short of extraordinary. With 241 wins over 17 seasons, he led our team to countless victories, including the unforgettable 2010 MIAA championship. His ability to inspire and guide us to our fullest potential made every game and practice an opportunity to grow and excel. Coach Broc's influence extended far beyond the field; he shaped us into better athletes and individuals. Before his celebrated coaching career, Coach Broc was a standout player at Towson High and Washington College. His dedication to the sport and his passion for coaching have left an indelible mark on all of us who had the privilege of playing under his guidance. He not only taught us the fundamentals of lacrosse but also instilled in us the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. One of my proudest moments was seeing my best friend, Tony Rossi, coach alongside him at Towson High. Tony always spoke highly of Coach Broc's mentorship and the incredible bond they shared while coaching together. Their collaboration was a testament to Coach Broc's ability to inspire not just players but fellow coaches as well. The announcement of his induction has been met with widespread admiration and support from the community. Coach Broc's influence extends far beyond the wins and statistics; he has shaped the lives of countless players, helping us develop both on and off the field. His legacy is one of mentorship and leadership, and his contributions to the sport continue to inspire current and future generations. Coach Broc’s induction into the Hall of Fame underscores his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to lacrosse. His achievements remind us of the lasting impact one dedicated coach can have on the lives of young athletes. Congratulations, Coach Broc, on this well-deserved honor! Your legacy will continue to inspire us all. Who loves ya? A Team

After celebrating a regional championship in 2023, Towson has carried that momentum to win their first 3 games of the 2024 season. Offenses have been stonewalled in the previous 2 games with Towson only allowing 3 goals combined in the previous 2 games. With Perry Hall scoring 24 goals in their previous 2 games, will offense or defense rule on Wednesday? Stay in the Zone to find out!
