In a thrilling away game on September 30, 2024, the Edgewood High School boys varsity soccer team clinched a 2-1 win against the Bohemia Manor Eagles, showcasing their sharp passing and counterattacking prowess. Just seven minutes into the first half, senior Nayo Matthews put the Rams on the board with a goal set up by a beautifully orchestrated series of passes. The play began with a booming kick from goalkeeper Kayden Kuessner, who found junior Jesus Hernandez. Hernandez quickly relayed the ball to Dontai Collins, who provided the assist to Matthews, a testament to the Rams’ control and quick counterattacks. Ten minutes later, Edgewood extended their lead when senior forward Dontai Collins found the back of the net, thanks to an assist from junior Marken Mensah. Despite the Rams’ dominance in the first half—stringing together an impressive 17 passes—the Eagles mounted pressure in the second half. The tension peaked when Bohemia Manor scored 16 minutes into the half, turning the game into a nail-biting affair. Nonetheless, Edgewood held firm, securing the well-earned victory.
