It took overtime for the Sanford boys team to defeat Potomac 66-62, where the Warriors had to overcome a 12 point deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game to Ot. The girls didn't take it that far as Sanford made a game-winner with three seconds left in regulation to beat St. Mary's 46-44
The St. Charles girls’ basketball team is graduating some star players but are looking to come back with another winning season. Finishing with a 19-5 record, the St. Charles team finished their season off in a loss to Oxon Hill 51-30 in the 2024 MPSSAA Girls Basketball State Championships. The team’s two top scorers graduated (Thomas- 441 points, Forbes-204 points), leaving the team to rely on the other experienced players, along with newcomers. The next two top leaders in points will be returning next season, sophomore Richardson and freshman Horne. This gives the opportunity for leaders to emerge and for the team to come together to change their ending with a championship win. Photo from: Instagram (@stcharleswbb)
