Walt Whitman High School defeated Richard Montgomery High School 25–13 — margin of 12.
The Rockets of Richard Montgomery had their hopes of a two game win streak extinguished falling 25-13 to the Vikings of Walt Whitman. The Vikings got off to and early 12-0 lead after a long touchdown run and a pick six. After and impressive outing against the J.F.K. Cavaliers, the Rockets defense gave a lackluster effort at home giving up several long touchdowns to a less than shifty but gritty and otherwised determined Viking's sqad as their porous matador defense almost seemed to wave the flag as they waved at flags. Promising freshman corner Katelyn Marchetti did have one interception her third in as many games. The offense did not fair much better early on as a pick six, several drops and a controversial penalty erased a highlight reel run by their exciting freshman quarterback. The offense finally got untracked as their freshman quarterback Serach Jackson began to showcase her versatility with a mix rushing and passing,. She launched several bombs caught by Senior Ella Cummings including the combo's 2nd passing touchdown in as many games. Sarocket closed the Rockets scoring with her 2nd Sportcenter's Play of the Day worthy run, a jawdropping display of speed and grace, racing past wouldbe defenders while movin and grovin, and shakin and bakin her way into the endzone. The young Rockets don't have any time to hang there heads as they have one day between their next game. Rockets fell to 1-2. Next up Thomas S. Wootton Thursday Sept 18, 2025
