After a tough week one loss, the Milford Mill Millers bounced back in the home opener, beating the Broadneck Bruins 48-25. Head coach Reggie White and company fell 42-7 against the Dunbar Poets in a neutral site game at Under Armour Stadium last week. Meanwhile the Bruins, led by head coach Rob Harris, defeated the St. Mary’s Saints 29-27 at home, winning the game on a blocked field goal. The two teams both entered this season looking to reach the state title game after being eliminated in the state semifinals in 2025. Milford Mill, after scoring seven points in week one, got on the board early against the Bruins. Quarterback Kameren Faulcon kept it on the ground himself, running it 73 yards for the game’s first touchdown. In their next drive, the Millers had the ball at the Broadneck one-yard line, but a goalline fumble gave the ball back to the Bruins. Despite this, the Bruins would not score, and Milford’s Dejuan Nelson scored their second touchdown on a 60-yard run. A few minutes into the second, the Bruins put their first points on the scoreboard. Senior quarterback Nate Kropkowski connected with senior Aidan Tupper for a 20-yard receiving touchdown. The Millers quickly responded with a 25-yard passing touchdown from Faulcon to senior receiver Terrell Tyner. Before the end of the half, Kropkowski and Tupper synced up again for each of their second touchdowns, making the score 21-13 at the break. Milford Mill continued to pour it on throughout the third, extending their lead with a pair of rushing touchdowns. Faulchon scored his second of the game from 15 yards out, and that was closely followed by a 10-yard touchdown from De’Onte Ross. Down 41-13, the Bruins’ offense tried to close the gap with a short rushing touchdown from Kropkowski, but on the ensuing kickoff, sophomore Zyon Stanley returned a short kick 45 yards for Milford Mill’s seventh and final touchdown of the game. Before the clock hit zero, the Broadneck quarterback scored another on the ground, but it was too little, too late, as the Millers completed the rout, winning 48-25. Broadneck, now 1-1, will hope to bounce back in their week three road game against the Arundel Wildcats, also 1-1. The Millers will look to get above .500 for the first time in their home game next week against Perry Hall. In 2025, Milford Mill took care of business in that match, defeating the Gators 59-0 on the road. The Gators enter week three 0-2, having been outscored 103-34 against Glen Burnie and Oakland Mills.
