Eastern Tech has a shutout against Sparrows Point High The game started off with Eastern taking the lead 2-1 against Sparrows Point, but it wouldn’t stay that way for long with Sparrows continuing to keep the score tied until it was 12-12. Anytime one team would start to pull into the lead, mistakes would tie it right back up again. Until Eastern went on a 4 point run, securing the lead. Sophomore Emma Rogers playing Outside Hitter and Setter played a crucial role in the first set by setting up teammate Nyah Charles-Pierre to make some point winning hits widening the point gap. In the end it was powerful serves from Rogers that gave the win in set 1. Eastern came into the second set with the same amount of energy that they left the 1st with, but Sparrows immediately matched it and tied the score 1-1. Charles-Pierre continued to deliver powerful hits, forcing sparrows to call a time-out to try and regroup. Eastern kept their spirits high and grew a 7 point lead with the help of their libero Molly Weaver, which made Sparrows called their 2nd timeout for that set. Part of what made it even harder for Sparrows to gain momentum was Eastern constantly delivery of aggressive offensive plays that made ball return difficult. With every point Eastern gained, Sparrows made more mistakes widening the gap and leading to a 25-12 win for eastern in the second set. The third set started with a good serve from Sparrows point, and they left little room for Eastern to get some momentum going and kept the lead 5-1, causing Eastern to call a time-out early in the set. After the time-out Eastern came back more focused, and with some powerful hits from Charles-Pierre and Outside Hitter and Minh-Chau Lai let them secure their win 25-20 and a shutout for the game.
