The Warriors defeated the Panthers last night in Flag Football with a hard-fought 25-7 victory, headlined by a dominant Sherwood finish. The first half of the game remained even. While an early touchdown put Sherwood up early, Paint Branch quickly responded with a score of their own, capitalizing off of the Warriors RedZone mistakes. With the score tied through one half of play, Sherwood stepped on the gas and dropped 3 late touchdowns in a successful effort to propel themselves toward a smooth victory. Melanie Payne turned the game into her own personal highlight reel, scoring a hat-trick of touchdowns, including 2 long bombs from quarterback Cara Farr. Payne also recorded 2 interceptions on defense, changing the game from both sides of the ball. Other standouts for the game included running back Callie Kent, who had three gritty catches to set up multiple goal line opportunities for the Warriors, along with Aubryn Darrington, who effortlessly caught a one-point conversion directly over the defender's head. Both teams hit the road for their next games as Sherwood prepares for their upcoming game vs Magruder, while Paint Branch squares up with competitive rivals Blake.
