The No. 7 Dorman Cavaliers took care of the No. 19 Gaffney Indians, winning 24-14 on the road in week four. Dorman kicked off the scoring late in the first quarter when junior quarterback Cooper Patterson found paydirt on a 32-yard run up the middle. Gaffney did respond with a 38-yard field goal from junior Gugu Segura, making it a 7-3 game after one. In the second quarter, Gaffney’s offense struggled early. A bad snap led to a safety giving the Cavaliers a pair of points. Later in the quarter, the Cavs scored another touchdown on the ground, and after a successful two-point conversion, led 17-6. Midway through the third, the Indians’ offense started to move as senior quarterback Corey Taylor connected with junior Marquis Young for a touchdown, cutting the Dorman lead to just four points. Gugu Segura made his third field goal of the day early in the fourth, but a 57-yard rushing touchdown from senior Nick Means sealed the deal for Dorman, securing their 24-17 win over Gaffney. The Indians fall to 3-1 on the season, marking their first loss on the young campaign. They’ll have a week off before trying to bounce back against No. 9 Byrnes while Dorman, still undefeated, returns to action next week at home against No. 6 Irmo.
