The focus of Saturday afternoon’s boys’ soccer rivalry game between Towson and Dulaney wasn’t what was happening on the field. It was what happened before the game off the field. Longtime Generals coach Randy Dase was honored in a ceremony before Towson faced off with the Lions on the newly renamed Randy Dase Field. Dase has coached over 100 seasons of athletics as an alum of Towson High, leading soccer, lacrosse, and basketball teams to 10 total state championship titles. During the pre-game ceremony, former Towson lacrosse coach Rick Brocato spoke, honoring what Dase has given to the school and the community. “[Your legacy] is measured by the thousands of lives you’ve changed,” Brocato said. “It’s only fitting that your name now becomes a permanent part of this community.” Despite the dreary weather in Baltimore County, Towson faced the Dulaney Lions on the Generals’ turf field, looking for their second win of the season and first since the renaming. However, the game would not shake out in Towson’s favor. The first goal scored on the renamed field benefitted Dulaney, coming from Noah Kunicky in the 21st minute. That score would prove to be the only one of the game. The Generals played a hard game, especially towards the end of the second half trying to equalize, but they could not find the back of the net. Dulaney earned the 1-0 win, improving to 3-2 and snapping a two-game losing streak. Towson had a strong 2025 season, but it’s been tough sledding for Coach Dase and company this fall. In his 38th year leading the program, the Generals have accrued a 1-6 record, with the lone win coming on September 18 at home against the Park Bruins.
