The winless Ashley Ridge Swamp Fox gave No. 10 Oceanside Collegiate a run for their money, falling to the Landsharks 42-41. Midway through the first, the OCA opened the scoring as quarterback Aiden Manavian connected with Marquis Muhammad over the middle for a 20-yard touchdown. Two minutes later, Ashley Ridge had the ball at their own four-yard line. On the first play of the drive, quarterback Jake Zamostny hit Josiah Mitchell on a quick pass, and Mitchell ran in the 96-yard touchdown to tie the game. It took over ten minutes of the second quarter for the game’s next score. With 1:30 left in the second quarter, senior cornerback Cole Gaspar intercepted an Ashley Ridge pass 73 yards for a lead-taking pick six before the break. 90 seconds into the third, the Swamp Fox had the ball at their own 19, and after fumbling the snap, senior Monte Brown ran in the 81-yard touchdown. With the game tied at 14 going into the fourth quarter, both teams’ offenses were about to turn up the heat. With 10:35 left on the clock, senior Michael Strickler punched it in in the wildcat formation from a yard out. Two minutes later, Kameron Howell scored a 35-yard rushing touchdown, re-tying the game at 21. It took the Landsharks 90 seconds to drive back down the field, but Aiden Manavian threw an interception at the Ashley Ridge two-yard line, and junior safety Reese Purvis returned it 98 yards. However, a block in the back penalty was assessed on the Swamp Fox, wiping the score off the board. With two minutes left in the game, Monte Brown took a direct snap and connected with Josiah Mitchell for a 42-yard score. Oceanside found themselves in a two minute drill, and with six seconds left in regulation, Manavian found junior Wright Dinkins in the corner of the end zone for an equalizing touchdown, sending this game to overtime. This game went to double overtime! Oceanside scored on fourth and goal on a two-yard rushing touchdown from Michael Strickler, and after a PAT, led 42-35. The Swamp Fox found themselves on fourth and goal, and they too scored on a six-yard floater touchdown to Josiah Mitchell. Ashley Ridge lined up to kick the PAT, but the Swamp Fox attempted a fake two-point conversion, but it proved to be unsuccessful, and Oceanside held on to win 42-41.
