Both teams came into the match undefeated, with the Indians taking down Woodlawn at home 21-0 and the Millers dominating Catonsville on the road in a 62-point blowout win. Franklin’s offense opened the game on their own 29-yard line, but quickly punted the ball away to the Millers. Milford Mill’s offense got out to a hot start as senior quarterback Mi’cah Williams found Owen Newberns with a deep pass to bring the Millers into the red zone. Just a few plays later, Damon Ferguson Jr. found the end zone to give Milford Mill a 6-0 lead. In their next offensive drive, Franklin’s Tanner Hutchins found Chideziri Duru for a quick gain of fourteen, but the Indians ultimately had to punt again. The Millers had several chunk plays in their second drive, but were forced to punt as well. During the Indians’ first series, they were tackled in the end zone for a safety, giving Milford Mill an 8-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, Milford Mill’s Dejuan Nelson ripped off a 37-yard run to bring the ball to Franklin’s 15-yard line. Two minutes later, Mi’cah Williams ran the ball in from the 1-yard line for a touchdown. Following a failed two-point conversion, the Millers led 14-0. Following a quick three-and-out by the Indians, the Millers’ offense got the ball again. Gilbert Robinson stepped up big for Franklin, tackling Milford Mill for a loss and forcing a punt to give the Indians’ offense a chance to score. With just over three minutes in the first half remaining, Milford Mill receiver Ky’ree Murphy lost the ball, and the fumble was recovered by Franklin’s Jaidon Williams. Soon after that, Milford Mill’s Koby Sarkodie recovered a Franklin fumble and returned it 15 yards for Milford’s third touchdown of the half. Following an Oluwasola Adebimpe PAT, the Millers led 21-0 at halftime. Milford Mill received the Franklin kickoff coming out of halftime and had the ball at their own 30-yard line. Dejuan Nelson ripped off two huge runs in their first drive, setting up sophomore Raemond Williams for a quick two-yard punch in. The Millers now had a four-score lead just two minutes into the second half. Their second touchdown of the quarter, and fifth of the game, came just two minutes later, as Mi’cah Williams found senior Amauri Patterson for a score from 34 yards out. With another PAT made, Milford Mill now led the Indians 35-0. In the fourth quarter, Franklin’s Tanner Hutchins found Jayen Newman for a big chunk of yards, but that drive resulted in a turnover on downs after the Indians went for it on fourth down. Without any more scoring, this game ended with a final score of 35-0 in favor of the Millers. Mi’cah Williams finished the game 12/19 with 141 passing yards and one passing touchdown, along with 80 rushing yards on six attempts, plus a rushing touchdown. Milford Mill’s leading rusher was Dejuan Nelson, who finished the game with 95 yards on eight attempts and a touchdown. Amauri Patterson was the leading receiver, as he had five receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown of his own. In week six, the 4-1 Franklin Indians are set to face the 0-5 Catonsville Comets on the road. The 5-0 Millers will host the 4-1 New Town Titans on Thursday night.
