Carvers Bay High School defeated Johnsonville High School 21–13 — margin of 8.
In a game with significant potential ramifications in the class 1A rankings, the Carvers Bay Bears took down the Johnsonville Flashes 21-13. Johnsonville’s special teams unit kicked off the scoring early in this one, as after an opening drive three-and-out, senior Ja’mere Ross returned a punt for six points. On Carvers Bay’s next drive, Johnsonville’s Zaghe Davis forced an interception and tried to take it all the way, but was tackled just shy of the end zone. The drive resulted in a field goal for the Flashes, giving them a 10-0 advantage at halftime. Coming out of halftime, Carvers Bay scored on three consecutive drives. The first, a short rushing touchdown from senior Dominique Walker, followed by one through the air to Jayshaun Ford. The most important, however, came with three minutes left in the game. After bobbling the snap, Bear quarterback Cristian Simmons ran it 35 yards for a touchdown, securing the 21-13 win. Carvers Bay, now 5-1, stays on the road next week against the Andrews Yellowjackets while Johnsonville, after dropping to 4-2, hits the road looking to bounce back against the Hemingway Tigers.
