On Monday, March 24, the Hereford Bulls (1-0) traveled down I-83 to take on the Pikesville Panthers (0-2) in a varsity baseball match. The Bulls came into the game following a blowout win on March 21 where they beat Franklin 14-2, while Pikesville comes in after a heartbreaking loss against Poly 8-7. Hereford got off to a hot start in the top of the first. With two runners on following back-to-back Pikesville errors, the Bulls went up 2-0 following a Kreis Metz sacrifice flyout and a Leighton Alsip single. In the bottom of the second, following Nick Weldon reaching on an error and Isaac Garonzik singling, the Panthers scored two runs to tie the game. In the top of the third, Daniel Metz led off the inning with a triple, and was scored by Kreis on a single in the following at bat. In the top of the fifth, Kreis Metz smacked his second RBI single of the game to put Hereford up by two, but Pikesville got one of their own in the bottom of the frame as Kairee Williams reached home after a fielding error by Hereford's Joe Daw. Winning by just one run, Hereford scored two runs on walks, one on a wild pitch, and one because of a fielding error in the top of the sixth. Pikesville scored none in the bottom of the sixth, but Hereford tacked on three more in the seventh, one on a Gavin Jacker single and the other two as Alex Smith reached on an error. That being the end of the scoring, the Bulls took down the Panthers on the road 11-3. Jameson Greenwood gets the win for the bulls as he went four innings, giving up six hits and two unearned runs while picking up one strikeout. Michael Payne was tagged with the loss for Pikesville, going five innings while giving up seven hits, six total runs (three earned), and a walk. Hereford, now 2-0, looks ahead to a home match up against the Perry Hall Gators, while Pikesville, after dropping to 0-3, looks for their first win of the year against the Lansdowne Vikings on the road at Balto. Highlands Elem. First pitch for both games is Tuesday, March 25 at 4pm.
