Hereford High School vs Baltimore Polytechnic Institute

A strong running game propelled Hereford to a tough road win against Poly last night. The Poly offense, led by quarterback Troy Brown Jr., kept pace throughout the game. After Hereford scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to take a 22-21 lead, an offside penalty on the extra point attempt led the Bulls to go for a successful two-point conversion. Trailing by one deep in their own territory, Poly chose not to punt and went for the first down on a fourth-and-long with four minutes remaining. Brown Jr. threw a deep pass down the Hereford sideline, but the referees ruled it incomplete after meeting about the play. A personal foul penalty assessed after the play pushed Hereford back, but it also provided them with more room to run out the clock on their final possession. The Bulls will hit the road again next week, facing a challenging game against a Milford Mill Academy team that defeated them 12-7 in a hard-fought game last season. Milford Mill also avenged their 2023 loss to Oakdale in their first game. Poly will make adjustments as they prepare for Forest Park. This was an exciting way to start the season!
